Introduction

How a call works

What happens between the first ring and hanging up, step by step.

Every call to elunos.ai goes through the same four stages. Knowing them explains why an agent hesitates at a particular point.

1. Answering

The call reaches the phone number you connected to an agent. elunos.ai picks up, plays the recording notice and greets the caller with your first message.

2. Understanding

Speech is turned into text continuously, not only at the end of a sentence. That is why the agent can be interrupted and reacts to what the caller throws in, instead of reciting its script.

3. Acting

If the answer needs knowledge, the agent searches your knowledge base. If it needs an action, it calls a tool, for example free slots in the calendar or creating a contact in your CRM. Both happen while the conversation continues.

4. Wrap-up

After hanging up, the transcript, the summary and the structured fields you defined on the agent are produced. Only then do follow-up actions run, such as a confirmation email.

When an agent feels slow, it is almost always stage 3. A tool that takes three seconds to answer holds the conversation for three seconds.
